Though you may not have heard of her, you've likely heard her. Over the past several decades, Cece DuBois's speaking and singing voice has been featured in jingles, commercials, and music recordings.
In addition to studio work, Cece was the female singer in the Folk Gospel trio Dust and Ashes. The group toured throughout the USA for three years. Their album, Lend Me a Sunrise, was produced by Gene Cotton.
Cece sang duets with Porter Wagoner on his TV show.
She also did step-outs as a soloist, and sang backup - along with Paul Gregg and Matt Davenport - for guest artists.
Cece wrote her first song in high school after a breakup with her boyfriend.
During high school she was also journaling and practicing what's now referred to as "stream of consciousness" writing.
She moved to Nashville in 1977, soon began cowriting with various songwriters and artists, and landed a publishing deal with her mentor, Meredith Stewart, at Coalminer Music Publishing.
With business partner Jillian Farrar, Cece is co-author on a book called "Could Johnny Build a Bridge - the deliberate dumbing down of America's kids," available on Amazon.com
Cece's finished the first draft of her memoir, and is looking forward to completing that project in 2024.
According to her mother, Cece's first word was "pencil."
She's been drawing since she could hold that pencil.
Her art has won awards and
she has shown in local galleries.
Her favorite subject is children, and
she takes portrait commissions.
Cece DuBois's grandmother, Thelma, was a woman whose innate design instincts were unwaveringly accurate.
Cece's grandad, Thelma's husband Charlie, was a master builder who oversaw construction of the historic Philtower Building.
Their son, Cece's dad, was also a master builder.
Growing up surrounded by these creative giants, she developed a taste for the scent of raw wood, and an inherited
sense of style and aesthetic that is
second to none.
The craving to make all things beautiful is in her marrow.
